Al Hilal against Chelsea .. an attempt to “break the rule with the Europeans”

Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia qualified for the semi-finals of the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi, after excluding the Emirati Al-Jazira, to hit the Asian Champions League champion, a date with the European representative in the semi-finals, Wednesday.

It is scheduled to meet the winner of the match with Palmeiras in the final, after the Brazilian team eliminated Al-Ahly of Egypt from the semi-finals by defeating them with two clean goals, on Tuesday.

The “Sky News Arabia” website reviews the history of Arab confrontations against European clubs in the Club World Cup, all of which came without exception in favor of the latter.

The beginning of the first confrontation in the 2000 edition, which brought together the Saudi victory and Real Madrid, and ended with the “Royal” victory with three goals against one goal for the Asian champion, scored by Fahd Al-Harifi from a penalty kick.

In the same 2000 edition, Real Madrid faced another Arab competitor, Moroccan Raja, in the group stage, and the match ended in favor of the Spanish team with three goals against two goals in favor of the “Green Eagles”, scored by Youssef Ashami and Mustafa Makhzo’.

The third confrontation between the Arabs against the European champions dates back to the 2011 edition of the Club World Cup, where the competition brought together the Qatari Al-Sadd and Barcelona teams in the semi-finals, and “Barca” won by a clean four.

In a historic version in 2013, the African Champions League champion Raja presented an epic tournament, as an Arab team reached the World Cup final for the first time against Bayern Munich.

But the Bavarian team quelled Raja’s ambitions to win the title, by defeating it with two goals without a response, scored by the Brazilians Dante and Thiago Alcantara.

The Emirati Al Jazeera carried the banner of representing the Arabs in the 2017 edition when it faced Real Madrid in the semi-finals, and lost by two clean goals.

Al Ain and Real Madrid

It was as if the Emirati teams were lucky to face Real Madrid, as Al Ain qualified for the final of the 2018 edition to face “Al Meringhi” after an epic tournament presented by the representative of the Emirates.

Al-Ain of the United Arab Emirates won the silver medal in the Club World Cup after losing four goals to one, scored by Japanese Tsukasa Shiotani.

In the 2020 edition, Al-Ahly of Egypt presented a historic match against Bayern Munich, the European champion at the time, and lost with two clean goals in the semi-finals of the tournament, scored by Polish Robert Lewandowski.
