During a joint press conference that brought together US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Schulz, on Monday, Biden threatened to “put an end” to the pipeline Nord Stream 2which was built to supply Europe with Russian gas via Germany, in case Russia invaded Ukraine.
Biden added: “If Russia invades Ukraine, that means tanks or troops cross the border UkraineThen again, there will be no Nord Stream 2 pipeline,” he said, emphasizing, “I promise we’ll put an end to it.”
The Nord Stream 2 pipeline aims to double the gas exports of Russian energy giant Gazprom, which flow from Russia directly to Germany, bypassing the traditional route through Ukraine.
