Sullivan said in a press conference from the White House, that Russia would begin its attack on Ukraine from the air before the ground invasion began, but he did not specify a confirmed date for the invasion.
“The Russian attack includes the capital, Kiev, and other parts of Ukraine,” he added, noting that Moscow “will look for a pretext or a misleading act to invade Ukraine.”
Sullivan repeatedly called on Americans in Ukraine to leave the country “immediately.”
On the other hand, Sullivan said that US forces in Eastern Europe “will not go to war against Russia in Ukraine,” but made it clear that “our forces in Eastern Europe are at NATO’s disposal.”
