Prisoner went to feed goats and did not return
An inmate escaped from the Linhó Prison, in Sintra, when he was working openly herding goats. Authorities launched a search operation that has not yet managed to find the fugitive.
As confirmed by the Directorate General for Reinsertion and Prison Services (DGRSP), the prisoner was “in an open regime, working in goat herding and, as such, with discontinued surveillance, he was illegitimately absent from the prison grounds”.
At this time, the inmate is still at large and being sought by “various criminal police bodies”. The fugitive is 26 years old and is in the final stages of serving a ten-year sentence for theft and robbery.
“As is legally foreseen, an internal investigation process was opened to determine the circumstances of this occurrence”, emphasizes the DGRSP.
